Value of Social Distancing: $7.9 Trillion

How much should U.S. households be willing to pay financially to reduce the risk of deaths from the new coronavirus? University of Chicago researchers Michael Greenstone, co-director of the Climate Impact Lab, and Vishan Nigam did some calculations and came up with a number: $7.9 trillion.
