As a part of a special edition for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, National Geographic analyzed 2,500 populated areas across the globe in order to understand what a climate-changed world could feel like in 50 years. The feature uses data from the Climate Impact Lab on the increasing frequency of extreme heat events.
