Dr. Kopp Testifies to U.S. Congress: “Climate change is real, it is here now, and humans are responsible for it”
Climate change is not just an environmental challenge; it is an economic challenge, an infrastructure challenge, a public health challenge and a national security challenge, Dr. Kopp, co-director of the Lab, told lawmakers on the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. The committee convened a hearing titled “The State of Climate Science and Why it Matters” on February 13, 2019, in Washington, D.C. In addition to Kopp, other scientists who testified during the hearing included Kristie L. Ebi of the University of Washington, Jennifer Francis of the Woods Hole Research Center, Senior Scientist and Rutgers visiting faculty member, Natalie M. Mahowald of Cornell University, and Joseph Majkut of the Niskanen Center.
